Mirage
‘Mirage’ is an amalgamated imaginary landscape reminiscent of some of the views from the hills far north of London in Hertfordshire and Essex, though the view of London is from Parliament Hill in Hampstead. At the time, I was commuting back into London part of the week after a move back to the countryside and had a need to explore the completely different energies of the rural and urban environments. Tied into this seemed to be a historical perspective, with the cities energised by a need for ‘progress’ and change and the countryside trying to grip onto a nostalgic past.
